Rio Terrace, Edmonton

The story

A 1960s bungalow on a mature Rio Terrace lot, dated inside but structurally sound. The siding and roofline stayed as-is; the renovation stayed on the interior.

Upstairs, the wall between kitchen, living, and dining came out. The old sink stayed under the same window; everything around it was rebuilt. A big new island and added cabinetry brought real storage to the main floor, plus a stacked washer and dryer upstairs.

Downstairs went from one bedroom to two. The bathroom was relocated and a new bath added, so the lower level functions as its own space: a nanny suite, not a legal secondary suite, but a proper self-contained level below the main house.
